Mechanic Apprentice Plant Operator Trainee I&C Apprentice
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public. Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations. Installs, maintains tests, inspects, and repairs generating station equipment such as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment. Works with mechanics and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures. Perform safety related duties such as accepting work authorizations, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, etc. Ability to use hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, etc). Ability to use shop tools (i.e. power saws, drills, drill presses, and lathes).
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED 2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnostics. Valid State Driver’s License Successful applicant must receive a rating of “recommended” on the NRG Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test.
