Donation Station Attendant 

The company is a 30 plus year old family-built business and collects gently used clothing and household items for local charities throughout the United States. We partner with various civic organizations, religious organizations and municipalities to provide fundraising opportunities. Additionally, we recycle used garments that otherwise would end up in an incinerator or landfill. We are seeking individuals to help build our presence in the United States. This position has great income growth potential based on individual performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.

As a Charity Donation Trailer/Manned Station Attendant, your primary responsibility is to perform your duties in a way that exceeds the donor’s expectations. Donor satisfaction is our number one objective, and each attendant plays an important role in representing the charity to the donor. Do not allow donations to accumulate outside the trailer.

Your objective is to provide courteous, respectful service to the donor, to keep the donation site clean and well maintained, and to safeguard the donations until they can be picked up by the truck drivers.

There are certain items we do not accept. Your manager will give you a list of these. We do not accept junk, furniture that needs to be reupholstered, nor if it is terribly dirty, dressers with drawers missing, etc. Refusing donations will be at your discretion. Always be polite and thank them for thinking of us.

Donation site should be properly set-up, clean and well-maintained:

1. Be at station on time and during all scheduled hours

a. Report to supervisor upon beginning and ending shift (by text, phone or other determined method)

b. Sign into time sheet on beginning and ending shift and record all breaks.

c. 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks allowed.

2. Be properly attired:

a. Wearing name tag and clean vest or clean shirt (as provided)

b. Neatly and modestly dressed – no tanks, short shorts, etc.

c. Closed-toe shoes for safety.

3. Workstation properly set-up

a. Should have chair, table, and umbrella set up outside trailer in visible location.

b. Place any flags, banners, balloons or signage in visible, attractive manner

4. All donations should be in trailer – no bags or items outside.

5. Outside should be free of trash, glass, and other debris (sweep each morning and each evening).

6. Did driver remove all trash at last pickup? If not, call your direct supervisor.

7. No personal items whatsoever (decorative items, posters, extra clothing, etc.) should be in the trailer. All items in the trailer are deemed to be property of the charity. Lunch is an exception to this rule.

8. If the trailer is full, call your direct supervisor for a pickup.

9. Confirm that the trailer has the appropriate supplies – if supplies are needed, call your direct supervisor.

Provide courteous, respectful service to donor.

1. Be knowledgeable of charity – see attachment

a. What is charity’s purpose

b. Who does charity serve?

c. Know that thrift store purchases donations for market value.

2. Stand up to greet and thank each donor

3. Offer to carry donations to trailer

4. Give donor a receipt for donation

5. Treat all donations and donor with respect.

a. No dropping or throwing.

b. Stack all donations carefully and neatly in trailer.

c. Bags should be tied; boxes should be closed.

6. Record each donation in donor log at trailer

Safeguard donations.

1. All donations are the property of the charity, and any theft or waste will result in immediate termination.

2. No sorting through merchandise – All merchandise should stay in its original containers and be kept closed.

3. Confirm that the door of the shed is fully operational (opens and closes easily).

4. Confirm that the door is closed and securely locked any time you are not at the trailer (including short breaks).

5. Absolutely NO SMOKING in the trailer or near the trailer.

Supplies needed:

1. First aid kit

2. Roll of bags for donations

3. Book of receipts for donors

4. Donor Logbook and pen

5. Time sheet to record time at trailer

6. Broom and dustpan (use them)

7. Water cooler in hot weather

8. Gloves and bug spray

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
