The Miami Transplant Institute has an exciting opportunity for a full time Donor and Perfusion Services Manager (H) position. The incumbent plans, organizes, and directs all organ procurement and perfusion services for the University of Miami Transplant Center (UMTC). Incumbent assumes the responsibility of evaluating organ referrals, oversees the management and of the donation process, and coordinates the surgical recovery of organs. The incumbent provides onsite supervision, guidance, training and ensures an optimal quality of work provided by the organ procurement and perfusion staff in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides continuous on-call coverage for the transplant center for organ procurement through the Donor Desk.
Receives and records potential donor organ information from the OPO.
Contacts attending physicians and accurately communicates pertinent information.
Coordinates all aspects of the donor operation, which may include perfusion of the cadaveric organs being harvested.
Coordinates and communicates will all members of the team to ensure a smooth recipient operation.
Completes and submits all UNOS forms in required time frame.
Coordinates educational services with the clinical staff and transplant surgical fellows regarding organ procurement policy and procedures.
Assists with development and review of policies and procedures related to compliance with OPTN and UNOS regulations.
Management of Perfusion Machine Operational Services Management of Perfusionists.
Management of specialized machine services across all MTI transplant divisions.
Directly oversee donor procurement for UMTC in both abdominal and thoracic transplants.
Participate in the technical training of the surgical fellows involving procurements.
Participate in the medical training of transplant fellows for the management and optimization of donor preservation.
Direct research collaboration for donor and perfusion projects.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Medical Graduate or completion of a Surgical Assistant Program.
Certified Surgical Assistant, or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of hire.
Previous transplant procurement experience strongly preferred.
