Door Trim Buyer (Strategic)

Hiring a strategic Buyer for the high value, and high exposure, Door Trim commodity. The selected candidate will perform strategic sourcing, deliver cost/quality/delivery objectives, manage supplier relationships, and work hand-in-hand with operational counterparts to accurately complete POs/TOs in I-ERP systems. This position will also have the opportunity to act as lead for one of the biggest suppliers in Interior. + Manage cost, quality, and delivery of commodity over program lifetime + Support and co-drive w/STA all supplier Q1 and quality objectives + Lead for commodity knowledge and market intelligence including cost, bill of process, etc. + Lead cross-functional interface (primarily with Design Studio, PD, Cost Estimating) + Lead the development and deployment of constraint mitigation actions to protect assembly plant production as a result of supplier constraints or catastrophic losses + Understand and set cost savings goals annually to identify pure commercial leverage versus design efficiencies and end-to-end supply chain improvements + Work with cross functional teams to understand latest supply base footprint, financial health ratings, technologies, and trends + Analyze market supply/demand balances and deficit risks + Align on sourcing to component and part requirements + Conduct regular design reviews with engineering + Sourcing execution lead (RFx event, tactical sourcing, contract administration, etc.) + POV owner of program-specific sourcing decisions + Implement sourcing strategy for category, delivering a balanced portfolio of material that meets Ford’s capacity, cost, timing, and ESG (Environmental , Social, Governance) needs + Manage relationships with existing and future Door Trim suppliers + Understand industry and asset specific costs + Work with suppliers to define integration opportunities within the supply chain + Look at all existing processes and challenge if improvements could be made, regardless of scale + Develop material cost roadmaps that deliver corporate objectives and ensure long-term viability + Identify enablers to drive waste out of system/commodity + Minimum of 3 years strategic buying experience + Proficiency in supply chain systems and procedures + Continuous pursuit of learning and development to drive commodity expertise Nice to have + Ability to develop and successfully execute negotiations strategy + Familiarity with manufacturing processes a plus + Strong analytical skills (Must be data driven and able to analyze multiple potential scenarios / business plans) + Big Picture / Strategic Mindset (Must be able to drive the future of the commodity) + Creative thinker and problem solver + Cost analytics (understand commodity cost drivers, part cost breakdowns, Gap-to-OCE) + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Must be a self-starter/ motivated and be able to work both independently as well as in a team setting. + Strong negotiation skills (creating leverage in both offensive and defensive situations) + Persuasive and convincing communication skills (e.g., proposals, reports, plans) to secure commitment from business leaders + Ability to interpret organization needs and commercial strategies as input into global Category Strategies You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
