Dosimetrist, Full Time, MMC

Atlantic Health System, one of the largest non-profit healthcare organizations in New Jersey, is seeking a full-time medical dosimetrist to work primarily at the Radiation Oncology Department at Hackettstown Medical Center. The position will also provide coverage at other facilities in the Atlantic Health System. The successful candidate will join a team of 6 physicians, 9 physicists, and 7 dosimetrists. The position will provide support for all aspects of radiation oncology treatment planning and delivery as well as expertise in the evaluation and implementation of new treatment modalities. 

The Atlantic Health System currently has six Varian Linac, one Cyberknife, one Tomotherapy, and one Varian GammaMed Brachytherapy unit. We utilize ARIA for record and verify and Eclipse V16.1 for treatment planning along with HyperArc for SRS/SRT. At Hackettstown Medical Center, we have one Truebeam treating around 20 patients daily, with a shared PET/CT scanner with Radiology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide radiation physics support related to graphical planning and dose calculation for Radiation Oncology patients system wide.  Obtain, interpret, and use patient-specific information necessary for treatment planning. This includes the physician’s prescription indicating the part of the body to be treated and the dose to be delivered.  Consult with radiation oncologists and therapists as needed throughout the planning process. Radiation Therapy Simulation and Treatment Delivery: Advise and interpret pertinent information obtained during simulation.  Ensure correct implementation of radiation treatment plans. Participate in quality assurance procedures. Review of dose calculations, documentation, and patient records consistent with established guidelines. Teach and demonstrate principles of treatment planning, treatment planning systems, and departmental policies and procedures to junior staff, post-doctoral fellows, and others as directed. Prepare and give talks/lectures/case presentations and participate in departmental staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Attend professional association/society workshops and lectures to further develop professional skills. Assist other dosimetrists or radiotherapy physicists in the testing of new procedures and treatment techniques. Including learning experiences that stretch and build capabilities by requesting new assignments (i.e., testing computer software, and evaluating new commercial products). Treat patients, clients, and Center employees who depend on the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of the work as unique individuals in a respectful, courteous manner, and focuses on understanding and meeting their needs.
