Dosimetry Technician
Job Description Summary• The Dosimetry Technician is responsible for preparing and reading dosimetry.
• The Dosimetry Technician will prepare a dosimetry report for each sterilizer run.
• Additionally, when a new batch of dosimeters is received the Dosimetry Technician is responsible to calibrate/qualify every batch before use in sterilization process.
• Dosimetry is read by the Dosimetry Technician using a spectrometer or applicable equipment, ensuring this maintains a calibration range.
• The Dosimetry Technician is responsible for all checks; daily, weekly, monthly; for the spectrophotometers.
• The Dosimetry Technician is responsible for following established Work Instructions and Standards.
• The Dosimetry Technician must exercise accuracy in performing test procedures and must keep accurate records.
• All activities align with global strategies, guidance, and deployment of initiatives, including site level project and replication plans.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Dosimetry Technician will perform all tasks associated with the administration of radiation treatment for patients. The Dosimetry Technician will work under the direction of the Radiation Therapist and provide assistance in the delivery of care to patients.  

Responsibilities:

Ensure patient safety during treatment by utilizing knowledge of radiopharmacology, radiation protection, and medical terminology.

Assists with the preparation of patients, selection of appropriate equipment and supplies, and positioning of patients for treatment.

Performs procedures with consideration given to age specific needs, patient acuity, physical capabilities, and developmental stages.

Observes patient and treatment reactions and reports adverse reactions to Radiation Therapist.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to assigned patient.

Documents appropriate information on patient's treatment record.

Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Interacts professionally with department personnel and other individuals who come into contact with the patient/family.

Adheres to established hospital policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Required Licensure/Certification Skills: None

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Preferred Experience: Previous experience preferred but not required

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Ability to communicate clearly, as well as understanding and responding to detailed oral and written instructions.

Basic computer skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
