Which is comprised of the fixed scale facilities and perimeter weight enforcement. This unit is statutorily mandated and has sole responsibility for enforcing the federal/state, size, weight, permit , registration and taxation reb>ulations. The incumbent assigned ensures enforcement effons promote a safe and secure driving environment , while protecting and preserving vital roadway infrasm1ctures. This position requires a current POST certified Police Officer or shall obtain POST certification within one year of date of hire. The candidate must also pass a background check, Physical Fitness Test, Polygraph , Matrix ex.am and Drug screen. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May exercise functional supervision over non-law enforcement staff as related to weights and standards compliance. LOCATION OF WORK: Department of Transportation and Development. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from other law enforcement jobs by the presence of specialization in weights and standards enforcement at stationary scales for the Department of Transportation and Development. Differs from DOTD Enforcement Agent 2 by the absence of experienced-level enforcement duties. Examples of Work 60% The DOTD Enforcement Agent acts as a uniformed commissioned/POST-certified Police Officer, and serves as a representative in an assigned geographical area. The primary focus, of the Agency, is weight and size enforcement of both State and Federal Laws, must be capable of conducting advanced police skills such as investigations, patrol and arrest procedures, and gathering of evidence. Ensure that the applicable rules and regulations are enforced fairly and consistently. Answers to the next in line chain of command . Required to identify the specific goals and objectives as they pe11ain to the enforcement of the federal/state regulations and ensure that these goals and objectives are accomplished . Incumbent is required to meet all mandated state and departmental required POST training, qualifications and certifications. 20% Ensures that required statistical reports , time and attendance reports and other required administrative paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner. Works well with other officers/compliance inspectors and stays briefed on deprutmental regulations and policies. Informs the Supervisor of all pertinent information within the region or statewide area as needed. Incumbent maintains records and transmits orders given to him by his Supervisor. 10% Ensure that Department issued equipment is well maintained and used in a manner consistent with DOTD Police Policy. 5% Incumbent conducts and completes investigations as directed , and may be assigned as the lead investigator over lower-level Agents . Incumbent maintains a working knowledge of all policies , procedures, and practices in effect. 5% Performs all other job related duties as required by supervisors .
