Drafter/CAD Operator II
GDIT is seeking CAD Drafter to support the Information Management Communication Services Program at Fort Novosel. AL. Creates, updates and maintains drawings using Computer–Aided Drafting (CAD) software for engineering support.
How a Drafter/CAD Operator II will make an impact:
Creates, updates and maintains drawings using Computer–Aided Drafting (CAD) software for engineering support. Transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD). Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs.Maintain a web–based information database composed of complex maps, cable/fiber configurations, digital and hard copy sketches, diagrams, drawings, photographs, databases, and tables configured in a database management system. O&M and update all OSP, ISP and remote communications facilities drawings in the CAD system. Complete redline drawings with required changes.Maintain all site drawings in final CAD format. Maintain drawing files in a printable format and translate drawings to other formats. Help customers with Software issues and instructions so they may access the data. Support, O&M an electronic file from which hard–copy, Plant–in–Place drawings can be produced, as well as a digital library and update related asset management databases.Able to utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) SW, equipment, plotters, and scanners; follow circuit paths, circuit diagrams, schematic cable, fiber runs, northing, easting and elevation in geospatial format for engineering drawings; identify circuit components; and document all data types.What you’ll need to succeed:
Secret clearanceAssociate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience. Experience in a related field, such as architecture, engineering, or manufacturing, is also highly valued. At least 4 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilitiesProven work experience as a CAD operatorProficient in AutoCAD and other computer-aided design softwareAttention to detail.to ensure all designs are accurate and all aspects of the plans are included.Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology and the ability to work closely with engineers to develop accurate designsAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring all deadlines are met; manage time efficientlyKnowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations to ensure designs are compliant.Knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteGood math skillsExcellent communications skills
