**Job Description** **Position Title:** Draftsperson I or II (Structural/Architectural) **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Office of Chief Ops Officer/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Provide drafting services for engineering design needed to meet existing and future power generation, gas production, fuel supply, and power transmission facility needs. **This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.** **Essential Functions:** + Create new structural and architectural drawings as marked or requested using established engineering methods, standards, and processes. + Assemble ‘template’ introductory level engineering details for projects. + Become proficient with the operation and workflows of the Engineering Document Management System. + Assist with basic drafting-related tasks in support of engineering teams. + Revise “as-built” drawings under direction. + Perform redlines under supervision. **Qualifications** **:** **Draftsperson I:** + Associate's degree in drafting & design technology, engineering technology, computer-aided drafting (CAD), or an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited Engineering program, or related field; or + High school diploma (or equivalent GED/HSED); and 2 years of professional design/drafting experience. **Draftsperson II:** + Associate's degree in Drafting & Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), or an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited Engineering program, or a degree in a related field; and 2 years of professional design/drafting experience; or + High school diploma (or equivalent GED/HSED) with a minimum of 4 years of professional design/drafting experience. **Other Requirements:** + Intermediate mathematical skills. + Proficient in design layout and drafting, with a strong understanding of industry codes, regulations, and standards. Expertise in applying drafting techniques to architectural and structural projects. + Proficient in design software, including Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Revit, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel). + Expected to become proficient in other applications routinely used by BEPC and the Engineering & Construction division, such as Revit. + A valid driver’s license. + Resume required. + Occasional travel. + Must be able to analyze data/reports and conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures, and goals; and present information to others. **Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:** This position requires frequent sitting; and occasional standing/walking, bending/reaching, climbing, kneeling, crawling, use of keyboard/computer, pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. This position also requires finger dexterity, hand coordination, good hearing, and color vision. The incumbent may be required to work under pressure due to conflicting priorities and deadlines. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas.
