Job Description:          Drexel Operator- Z Series

Skill Level:                  Level 4,5,6

Department:                Z Series

Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide raw materials to Z Series production areas.  Driver will need to be organized and keep the areas neat and orderly around the lines. This position also has the primary responsibility of completely knowing and executing the RF scanning system/QAD character with zero tolerance for errors.  Also, the job will require taking ownership of the Z Series raw material racks and the receiving area keeping this in order and scanned correctly. This individual also demonstrates leadership ability in taking complete responsibility for the up-time and well-being of the Z Series production area while having excellent communication with the supervisor regarding issues or concerns.

           

            Level 4

Must be able to do all tasks on RF scanners/QAD character: (PUL, PRV, PLO, PDL, PMV) with minimum errors.All unused Z Series materials will be put into a bin location and out of 2110 location before 10-hour shift ends daily with zero scanning errors.Raw racks will be organized and cleared of all banding, banding boards, empty pallets, etc.  Combining partial skids is vital to success.  Reporting poor housekeeping issues by others is critical.Floor will be clear of all banding, banding boards, empty pallets, etc.  Report poor housekeeping issues created by others immediately.Racks will be maintained to keep materials in order and housekeeping up to par.  There will be no stacking of skids where a small skid of material is potentially crushed by a heavier/larger skid of material. Good attendance is a must. 

             

Level 5

Consistently and effectively perform all level 4 requirements.Must have complete knowledge of all Z Series materials and where they are used.Report all scanning issues to cell leader and supervisor immediately.Maintain excellent attendance.Be highly motivated and show a lot of attention to detail.Keep Z Series work areas in superb condition (housekeeping and organization) at all times.  Report any exceptions to supervisor.Ability to effectively provide backup duties for the CRB/SDO lines.

Level 6

Consistently perform all level 5 duties.Near perfect attendance is a must.Take complete ownership for the safety of warehouse racks and safety of others on the production floor.No downtime allowed – production lines are never waiting on material.Scanning errors should be minimal.Active with safety program and giving input. Submitting good safety ideas throughout the year.Excellent decision making at all times.Excellent communication to leads and supervisors regarding excessive material loss, material outages, operator performance and inefficiencies.Provide thorough and effective training for new employees or beginners for the Drexel forklift position.Demonstrate leadership abilities and professional courtesy at all times.Excellent decision making while being highly productive under little supervision.

Job Analysis

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have a complete knowledge of entire product line of raw materials processed in Z Series.  Six to 12 months experience is desired and must pass written forklift exam as well as driving test; Tablet skills a plus.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:  Educational requirements due to accountability of production require completion of 12th grade.  Employees must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.  Approximately 6 to 12 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job.  Must be capable of reading a tape measure and pass written exam.

INITIATIVE & INGENUITY:  Work priorities are determined by supervisor instructions and incoming materials.  One must develop the knowledge to work independently while keeping in mind the effects their position has on everyday operations.  Individual must be self-motivated and work with limited supervision while following verbal and written instructions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Under specific direction of the Receiving Supervisor where goals and objectives are established.  Coordinate work with other material handlers as well as other lead people and supervisors.  Report any material handler deficiencies.  Advise leads/supervisor of unusual circumstances as needed.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR MATERIAL/PRODUCT: Carelessness in transporting materials and finished product could result in damage or loss, which could be expensive. Errors involving inventory, down time at assembly lines, or missed shipments will become apparent in daily processing.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:  Regular contact with other employees, lead people and staff members where improper handling may affect results.  Clear, concise communications skills are important.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:  Flow of work and character of duties involve performing some repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions and capable of sitting on forklift for the entire shift. Normal and corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination some walking, bending, twisting and stooping and climbing up over freight and lifting of approximately 35 lbs.  Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using forklift controls

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Employees must be able to withstand heat up to 95 degrees.  Carelessness could result in falls, back strain, cuts, crushed hand or foot.  Caution is required while operating forklift.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura’ Safety Manual and Forklift Training.   This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses & ear plugs & steel toes). This position is responsible for moving heavy and awkward cargo in various work areas and storing materials on high racks, which could result in serious injury to others if not handled properly.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: This position must ensure that all preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis for the Drexel lift.  Damage to this equipment would result in a loss for the company.  Must perform daily checklist.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This job includes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.  Regular attendance is an essential job function.
