. Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and Design:
Oversee the development of drill and blast plans in collaboration with engineering and operations departments. Undertake analytics or activities to identify improvement opportunities Liaise with other Mine Ops Planning functions and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues that may arise from time to time and escalate as necessaryExecution and Supervision:
Oversee the setup and execution of drilling and blasting operations, ensuring adherence to approved plans. Provide guidance to drilling crews, ensuring safe and efficient and operation. Monitor blasting activities to control blast fragmentation and minimize rock damage.Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all drill and blast activities comply with mine safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and company policies. Conduct pre-blast risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate hazards. Maintain strict control and accurate record-keeping of explosives usage and storage.Technical Analysis and Optimization:
Analyze drilling and blasting data to evaluate performance against key metrics such as fragmentation quality, vibration levels, and overall efficiency. Recommend adjustments and improvements to drilling parameters and blasting techniques based on post-blast assessments. Work with the maintenance team to ensure optimal functioning of drilling equipment and tools.Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with engineering, safety, and operations teams to integrate drill and blast plans into overall stoping operations. Provide regular progress updates and technical recommendations to management. Participate in training sessions and safety meetings, sharing insights and promoting best practices.Quality Control and Documentation:
Ensure accurate documentation of drill and blast operations, including logs, reports, and incident records. Review and update procedures to reflect new technologies, methods, and regulatory changes. Manage post-blast surveys and evaluations to measure success and identify areas for further improvementSkills and Qualifications Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field is preferred however extensive operational experience can be substituted.Experience:
Relevant experience in underground mining, particularly in drilling and blasting operations, is essential. Expertise in blasting designs, drilling techniques, QA/QC and reconciliation.What We Can Offer You:
