About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal Mine’s Drill & Blast function. Develop and refine your D&B engineering capabilities in one of the more complex large scale through-seam coal mines. You will be part of an immediate four person D&B team as part of the Short Term Planning team. The role has strong peer/senior support and opportunities for development, both within the discipline of D&B, and also the broader function of Tech Services.
The position is currently offered on a residential Monday-Friday basis, with flexibility an option.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Undertake design, optimisation and reconciliation of drill and blast activities for safe and productive mine progression. Undertake weekly and monthly D&B performance reporting Analyse customer needs, developing and providing solutions to increase productivity, safety, and value Develop and provide explosive forecasting associated with the mine plan Build healthy working relationships will the Drill and Blast operational team to ensure drill and blast outcomes are achieved in-line with schedules Manage risk through the application of geotechnical controls in drill and blast design About YouDegree qualified in Mining Engineering or equivalent Demonstrated experience in drill & blast engineering, preferably in open cut through-seam coal Experience with mine planning packages such as Blastlogic, Vulcan, Spry, Deswik etc. well regarded Well-rounded stakeholder management experience and excellent communication skills A strong desire to innovate and problem solve
