Drinking Water Discipline Leader
This is a strategic leadership position to serve as a Discipline Leader (DL) for Drinking Water Projects in our Drinking Water Community of Practice (COP). DLs assist in developing creative approaches to the design and delivery of drinking water projects in the Southeast Region during both the pursuit and delivery phase of projects. The DL role also work with the Drinking Water COP to grow the firm’s technical luminescence in the industry. This may include professional society committee engagement, developing paper abstracts or journal articles on water treatment technology trends.

As a strategic member of the CDM Smith team, you will have direct access to various global subject matter experts (SMEs) skilled in the fields of environmental engineering, process mechanical modeling and design, civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and other engineering specialties to support the design of Drinking Water Treatment projects. Working with Practice Leaders (PLs), other DLs, and engineering and construction leaders across the organization you will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors.

Main responsibilities include:

1. Performs and coordinates with designated SMEs for quality checking of designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.

2. Provides guidance and coordinates with SMEs on the delivery of water treatment projects. This includes coordination with regional team leaders (RTLs) on project staffing needs.

3. Collaborates with the Drinking Water Practice Leader and sales staff to support proposals in response to requests for Proposals (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals as part of ta review team for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations, and best practices. Meets with current and potential future clients as needed to review their current and future design needs.

4. Attends and presents at conferences, symposia, etc. to contribute to the technical luminescence and visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with PLs, DLs, and sales staff.

5. Provides technical guidance and training to senior, mid-level and junior staff as needed. Mentors staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. Supervises the work of engineers on project work and delegates as necessary to SMEs.

6. Alternative delivery experience such as progressive design build is a plus.
