Drinking Water Planning - National Practice Leader

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Drinking Water Planning - National Practice Leader to join our Resilience Water Business Area (BA) in the United States. This full-time position reports directly to the Resilience Water Planning Practice Director and can be based anywhere in the country.   

As the National Practice Leader, you will collaborate with the Practice Director and other leaders to create innovative strategies and value propositions for growth and market positioning nationwide. You will be responsible for collaborating with national and regional leaders to develop and implement winning strategies that drive business development and enhance delivery capabilities for Drinking Water Planning projects and programs in a sustainable and scalable manner.  You will also be responsible for leading our Drinking Water Planning Practice in developing and maintaining an understanding of our clients' drinking water planning needs, regulatory drivers, and technology enhancements; examining emerging issues and market trends; evaluating competitors; mentoring others; and providing operational and technical support to enhance project delivery and staff development.  

Success in this role will be measured by sustained, profitable growth, diversified services tailored to client needs, strengthening our position in existing markets, expanding into new markets, delivering exceptional client experiences, and fostering coordination, career growth, and operational excellence for our team. 

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop successful proposals and delivery strategies for Drinking Water Planning projects, incorporating technical solutions and pricing.  You will partner with Practice Leaders and technical experts to establish and execute Planning Practice standards while ensuring effective coordination of practitioners. Key responsibilities include: 

Leading major and strategic pursuits, including those requiring review and approval by the Pursuit Committee. Establishing and ensuring adherence to quality control standards and processes for Drinking Water Planning projects. Acting as a trusted advisor by serving as a Technical Advisor, Technical Director, or Quality Assurance Director on strategic projects and fostering client relationships. Driving thought leadership by collaborating with Subject Matter Experts, the Practice Director, and other stakeholders to implement industry-leading strategies. Building and mentoring a team of Drinking Water Planning Subject Matter Experts, addressing talent gaps, and supporting professional development across the team.

Travel (up to 25%) is anticipated for client and project meetings, staff engagement, and attendance at conferences or industry events.

Key Skills & Attributes: 

This role requires comprehensive expertise in Drinking Water Planning, including regulatory compliance, treatment optimization, and water quality analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, enabling the articulation of strategic value and thought leadership to clients and stakeholders. Success in the role depends on the ability to implement innovative solutions, lead and motivate teams by influence, and maintain strong client relationships.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Planning, or a related field 12 years of experience in the drinking water industry

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Planning, or a related field 15 years of experience in the drinking water industry 5 years of leading Drinking Water Planning Practice-related projects, proposals, and work scopes Serve or have served in leadership roles on key drinking water committees or organization   Professional certification such as Professional Engineer, Certified Water Operator, or Project Management Professional

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
