Under the supervision of the Social Services manager Wheelchair Van Drivers provide safe, time-bound transportation services to ambulatory and mobility-impaired clients to and from medical appointments.
You will be providing service to various customers across a host of treatment locations and facilities along with operating specialized equipment.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Requires ability to follow oral and written directions normally acquired through the completion of high school.
Requires valid driver’s license with no serious traffic violations (as defined by the MHP insurance provider.
Maintains AHA CPR certification and First Aid.
Requires a tolerance of stressful work environment and the ability to maintain a predetermined transport schedule.
Position requires corrected vision, corrected hearing, use of two hands and two feet, standing, bending, stooping kneeling, twisting, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling.
Must possess the physical capacity to walk long distances, deal with inclement weather, perform repetitive duties and lift parcels in excess of 50 pounds.
Some experience preferred – may be obtained with on-the-job training.
Satisfactory Driving Record.
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.
Knowledge of proper body mechanics for transporting. Must be service oriented.
