Driver Manager
POSITION SUMMARY The Driver Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of drivers and lease operators, including enforcing company policies, handling employee relations issues, and managing performance and disciplinary actions. Focuses on the recruitment of DOT qualified company truck drivers as well as independent owner operators and manages/monitors the systems and marketing efforts put in place. MAJOR TASKS + Assists with new driver on-boarding and training. + Completes Driver wage analysis reporting. + Closely reports and monitors driver turnover. + Maintains working knowledge of Hours of Service & McLeod software systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting. + Works closely with assets to grade utilization. + Updates and enforces driver handbook policies to maintain compliance and adhere to changes to company standards. + Manages and develops KPI’s to accomplish goals set with GM. + Sets standards for hiring driver applicants and manages exceptions with approval or denial. + Develops and manages SOP’s in conjunction with the GM. + Manages, reviews and updates owner operator contracts to stay in compliance. + Assists and manages the orientation process of new owner operators and company drivers. + Monitors employee performance and conduct. Issues disciplinary actions with drivers and owner operators when needed. + Investigates accidents and helps to facilitate insurance claims in the absence of the Claims Manager. + Works directly with the marketing team on advertising budget and execution of marketing spend. SKILL REQUIREMENTS + A minimum of five years’ related trucking industry experience with an Associates degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and email, and the ability to learn and use company specific software. + Proven listening and communication skills. + Ability to work independently with little direction; self-motivated. + Must be willing to travel out of town on occasion. + Must be able to interact professionally and respectfully with applicants, drivers and other company employees.
