Job Description
The role has a solid reporting line into the Pharma Services Group (PSG) Global Controller, and a dotted, matrix reporting line into the Division finance lead.
This role leads the global Controllership function for DPD and supports leadership within the division as a whole, which includes the business units within it and the sites which comprise each business unit. Working with the PSG Global Controller, this leader will define and implement the future PSG Controllership strategy for DPD. This leader will also work with the wider PSG, Biopharma Services (BPS) Sector and Thermo Fisher controllership team on accounting, internal controls, financial closing, compliance, and audit matters.
This business partnering role will be the go-to contact for the division on controllership matters and will collaborate closely with other leaders to provide timely insights regarding results and risks to the business.
Essential Functions:
Oversee division specific accounting and reporting to ensure entries are accurate and in accordance with U.S. GAAP, while also being produced in a timely fashion.Supporting leaders of the division/business units/sites with all aspects of controllership, including providing strategic guidance for proposed transactions to influence decision-making.Demonstrate change management capability and transformation leadership by challenging the status quo and influencing business partners and finance colleagues.Liaise with other leaders to provide support on technical and operational accounting and internal controls.Provides support on division specific statutory compliance matters.Coordinate, approve, and monitor process metrics (KPIs and SLAs) and provide insight into divisional leadership.Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and develop and monitor remediation plans for control deficiencies.Contribute towards continuous improvement in all areas including revenue recognition and enhancements to and implementations of financial systems.Ensure policies, including the Accounting Policy Manual, Accounting Operations Manual and the Approval and Authority Matrix are being followed by the division.Serves as an active member of finance leadership teams.Ensure respective business unit/site teams follow internal controls.Develop and maintain a strong relationship with Shared Services Centers and Centers of Excellence ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.Provide internal and external audit support and leadership.Work closely with FP&A teams to ensure understanding of variances to budget and forecast and to provide insights into the financial impact of future transactions and decisions.Drives detailed reviews of financials, including accrual sufficiency and aged items.Participates in MBR (Monthly Business Review) and QBR (Quarterly Business Review) preparation rhythm.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance and CPA/CA or equivalent designation.
10+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience with a combination of public accounting and industry experience.
Ability to thrive in a large, fast-pace, matrixed, international organization and proven history of leading cross functional/country teams.
Working for a public company preferred; strong public company internal controls experience required
Well rounded controllership experience required
