What you’ll do:
The Division Vice President of Nursing Operations (VPNO) is a key executive clinical leader responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational management, and financial performance of nursing services across a division of hospitals. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient centered care while aligning nursing practices with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and best practices in healthcare.
The Division VPNO collaborates with executive leadership to develop and implement nursing strategies that enhance operational efficiency, optimize patient outcomes, and promote a culture of excellence and innovation. They are accountable for driving performance improvements in clinical quality, safety, staff engagement and patient experience across all care settings.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Vision:
Develop and implement a comprehensive nursing strategy that aligns with the overall goals and vision of the healthcare systemCollaborate with system-level executives and other leaders to establish priorities, long-term goals, and key performance indicators for nursingClinical Quality and Patient Safety:
Drive system-wide initiatives focused on improving clinical outcomes, patient safety, and quality of careEnsure that evidence-based practices and regulatory standards are consistently applied across facilities, promoting a culture of safety and accountabilityLead the development of standard clinical protocols and pathways that optimize patient care and operational efficiency.Operational Efficiency and Standardization:
Oversee the integration and standardization of nursing operations, ensuring consistency in staffing models, resource allocations, etc. across the divisionIdentify opportunities for division and system wide improvements in operational efficiency, cost reduction and resource optimization while maintain high-quality careWorkforce Planning and Talent Development:
Lead division and system-wide nursing workforce planning, including retention and talent development strategies that address current and future workforce needs.Support leadership development programs and succession planning to cultivate nursing leaders at all levels within the systemFoster a professional environment that emphasizes staff engagement, clinical education, and continuous improvementFinancial Management and Accountability:
Oversee the financial performance of nursing operations across the division, ensuring cost effective practices while maintaining high standards of careOversee division level budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning, ensuring alignment with organizational goalsRegulatory Compliance and Accreditation:
Ensure division level compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and licensing standards especially related to nursing operationsMonitor and address any regulatory changes or emerging trends that may impact nursing operationsWhat you’ll need:
Education:
Master’s degree in NursingHealthcare-related field or Business requiredDoctoral Degree preferred: Doctor of Nursing Practices (DNP)Ph.D. in Nursing or Healthcare LeadershipExperience:
Registered Nurse in State of Residence Ten (10) years progressive experience in an executive level position (e.g. Chief Nursing Officer), with responsibilities for strategic decision-making, wide scale initiatives, and high-level operational oversight. System experience preferred.Certifications:
NE-BC, CENP, etc., preferred
