The Environmental/Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for the health, safety and environmental functions for a manufacturing facility. Spearhead specific actions to assure the Plant complies with all federal, state provincial, and local health, safety and environmental regulations and rules, including those related to occupational health and safety. Champion the facility’s risk management program through the corporation’s Business Operating Systems (BOS) which are designed to minimize the physical and financial exposure resulting from potential, alleged or actual on-the job injuries/illness and environmental compliance. Develop and track progress of strategies which focus on employee engagement toward health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for the facility.
Responsibility:
Environmental/Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for contacting outside agencies such as Fire Department, OSHA and environmental regulators. Respond and investigate environmental incidents and spills, including completing investigations to determine root-cause and closure activities. Identify and facilitate appropriate and required environmental training. Advise Plant Management of safety related situations, a member of the Plant Safety Committee and a member of Launch Team and work closely with Manufacturing Engineering. Oversee regulatory agency inspections and conduct safety and environmental orientation program. Maintain First Aid for the facility. Provide first aid treatment of on the job injuries or illnesses including records. Abreast of the latest health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and equipment by membership in appropriate organizations, attendance at pertinent seminars and reading professional journals. Prepare and maintain an Evacuation Plan and training for employees in the use of the plan in case of fire or other emergencies.Team with regional Workers Compensation claims Administrative Team, Third-Party Administrator and attorneys to manage open Workers Compensation claims.Requirements
1+ years of EHS manufacturing experience, automotive a plus. 1+ years of Safety Training in a manufacturing environment. Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, and Workers Compensation experience preferred Safety Team or HR experience a plus Hands-on experience investigating all HSE complaints/issues. Must have OSHA and TOSHA regulations.PRIMARY LOCATION
