E&I Technician - Recycled Paper Mill

E&I Technician

 

Job Responsibilities:

Maintain mill-wide electrical power systems, working with AC voltages ranging from, but not limited to 120/240, 277/480, 4,160 and 13,800 and DC voltages ranging from, but not limited to 12, 24 120 and 240.Install and maintain electrical distribution equipment and components, working with electrical conductors, conduit, cable trays, power panels, motor control centers, and overhead lines. Install and maintain process control instrumentation, process transmitters, valves, signal wiring and pneumatic tubing. Install and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using skills to troubleshoot with communication software.  Performing programming tasks as assigned. Install and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), working with both low voltage (480) and medium voltage (4,160) equipment.  Configure and troubleshoot using local interface and communication software. General understanding of prints, schematics, ladder logic, elementary diagrams, loop sheets, instrument spec sheets, and understanding of written instructions for equipment maintenance. Understanding of electrical basics, laws, theories, and electronics. Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and their governing principles. Ability to use test equipment and power tools associated with routine maintenance of equipment. Understanding of math, geometry, and basic engineering principles. Ability to troubleshoot DCS and PLC problems associated with instrument loops and process control. Understanding of instruments for pressure, level, flow, and temperature control and ability to troubleshoot their loops. Understanding of hydraulic systems and their components and ability to troubleshoot hydraulic loops and circuits. Understanding of calibration equipment with ability to correctly calibrate instruments and equipment.Ability to use computer software provided to install and maintain instrument systems. Understanding of control valves and ability to troubleshoot and repair valves and components. Safety standards associated with all instrument work. Computer literacy and basic understanding of CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems) to write work requests, update work orders, etc.


Job Requirements:


Education

Required: High School diploma or G.E.D. Preferred: Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technical Degree / Certification


Experience

Required: Minimum of 2 years' work experience in the last 5 yearsPreferred: 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.


Skills

Drive to achieve and have upward movement in various jobs.Self-motivated desire to learn.Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, around heat, noise, work inside/outside.Possess the mechanical, mathematical, and verbal aptitude to learn position.Proven record of performance.Play by the rules and work well with others.Able to work variable schedule and overtime as needed.
