The Opportunity 

We are currently recruiting an Underwriter to set, implement and achieve underwriting profit goals in the specialist area of Contractors/Erection all Risks business in accordance with the set business plan and underwriting guidelines and appetite.  To ensure underwriting integrity through appropriate deployment of capacity, whilst being compliant with guidelines and controls, consistency of approach towards risk selection, pricing, and use of capacity whilst recognising market conditions within delegated underwriting authority.

The successful candidate will have experience of Construction/Erection and Engineering underwriting in the various aspects of the sector of including, but not limited to, Power, Heavy Industrial and Renewable and Alternative Energy and where possible though not essential, Operational Power and will have responsibility for growth of the Portfolio with key Brokers and Clients, whilst maintaining and developing a portfolio of existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Goals.  To underwrite new business or renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local business plan. Portfolio Integrity.  To assist in formulating underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management in order to achieve underwriting profitability.  To ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility by participating in quantitative underwriting reviews, running, attending and participating in regular meetings and peer reviews. Product Development.  To prioritise and develop products within area of specialist expertise in order to improve client retention and new business.  This may involve collaborating with peers within other products in the UK and I and across business lines in Europe as well as globally. Producer Management.  To represent and promote Chubb corporately to brokers, internal and external clients domestically and overseas. This may involve servicing key producers and clients, monitoring business acquisition and retention as well as maximising cross-selling opportunities. Procedures.  To meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues. Chubb Representative.  To represent and promote Chubb and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues as well as major domestic and overseas clients, customers and brokers.  Good experience and understanding of the Construction / Erection all Risks market. Good to extensive knowledge of Construction/Erection business including risk selection / understanding, risk exposures, pricing and coverage.Solid experience of dealing with brokers of all tiers and clients.  Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative.Continues to develop technical and broader business skillsACII preferred, but not essential.
