Chemours is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Thermal and Specialized Solutions team. This position will be available at the Chemours La Porte site located on the Houston Ship Channel and report directly to the Site Manufacturing Technology Manager.
The individual will provide process and equipment technical expertise to support manufacturing operations and ensure safety, reliability, capability, and productivity of the facilities.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide engineering and troubleshooting assistance to the operations at the La Porte site.
Assist Operations as needed to troubleshoot day-to-day process problems.
Initiate Changes of Design (MOC’s) to the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
Participate in and lead Process Hazards Analyses per the schedule set out for the assigned process.
Perform tests on the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
Monitor the process on an on-going basis to look for positive and negative shifts to identify improvement opportunities. Uptime, Aspen Process Explorer, Seeq, and Data Analytics software would routinely be used to do this.
Assist Operations Team and Technology Guardian to ensure that the area process documentation is up to date. This would include operating procedures and process drawing updates.
When needed, provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds or other non-routine needs.
Assist capital project front-end loading to ensure equipment that is specified meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life cycle cost. Provide process support to all project phases.
Travel requirements are <10%.
The following is required for this role:
US Citizen
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Current college graduate or up to 3 years of experience
Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems.
Demonstrated knowledge of basic chemical or mechanical engineering principles.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications.
Ability to influence others to achieve tasks.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Proficient in the use of computers
Proven ability to manage short duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities
Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, eye protection, respirators, etc.
The following is preferred for this role:
Demonstrated knowledge of PSM requirements, especially MOC, PHA, and Process Technology elements.
Demonstrated computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, PLC/DCS, Aspen Process Explorer
Superior Oral and Written skills.
