This is a 4-month internship opportunity with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Toronto office. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Job Responsibilities The Actuarial Intern, Reinsurance will support in the capacity of a business analyst role to gather requirements from the clients (life insurance companies), and then work with the team that consist of actuaries, software developers, and financial modelers to develop strategies and approaches to resolve issues and delivery. Client Operations Support Monitor and respond to operational issues in PathWise based on client specific requirements and processes Assess and prioritize user issues and ensure they are recorded and addressed in a timely manner Create monthly reports for clients which document system availability and support services provided Support cloud operations and maintenance as it pertains to the management of client SaaS operations Help maintain and strengthen client relationships through participation in client consultations Be a primary contact for select clients Systems Development Services Create and maintain financial asset models for use in balance sheet projections of financial services companies. Work with software and infrastructure teams to develop robust improvements with stability, runtime and uptime, to Participate in the expansion of PathWise functionality as required or as requested by clients How this opportunity is different PathWise Solutions Group (PSG) provides high productivity computing software, consulting services as well as advisory services to financial intermediaries, primarily insurance companies. PSG’s high performance software platform, PathWise™, provides companies with the ability to easily model financial obligations without involved coding and is run on Graphical Processing Units (GPU), making it the fastest, readily available software platform currently in use in the insurance industry. PSG’s consulting services has focused primarily on actuarial analysis, reviews of hedging programs, and modeling of insurance liabilities and financial assets. This position will support the client management services provided by PSG to its North American clients, primarily located in the United States and Canada. The core responsibilities include creating and maintaining client processes as well as handling operations on the virtual private cloud (VPC) provided and serviced by PSG for its clients. Skills and experience that will lead to success Knowledge of general insurance products for liability modeling purposes Understanding of financial assets including derivatives Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations Former experience or knowledge of programming concepts Strong communication skills for heavy team and client interactions Ability to work independently Bilingual in both French and English is an asset Education Currently enrolled in an advanced Degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science or equivalent Experience in the financial services sector preferred How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
