Early Childhood Education - Family Service Guide Job Details Level Experienced Job Location Detroit Metropolitan Area - Detroit, MI Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Job Category Nonprofit - Social Services POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Service Guide works as a member of a team with staff and community resources to provide a continuum of services to children and families in an effort to strengthen and preserve families, assist in identifying individual needs, providing, and assisting in coordinating services to meet each family's needs. Must have knowledge and skills to input data into computer programs.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + Bachelor's degree with specialization in family support, psychology, sociology, family life, social work, children and families, early childhood, or child development OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent. + Bilingual (English and Spanish and / or Arabic) preferred.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Keep apprised of all Policy and Procedures, rules and regulations and attend all identified training for implementation of enrollment and recruitment. + Engages parents in identifying their needs ,  developing goals and providing referrals and follow-up. + Upon registering, inform parents/guardians of all program requirements. + Advocates for children and families by assisting in the identification and coordination of support services. + Identifies and provides support with families for health, nutrition, social service, and crisis intervention needs. + Intervenes and contacts parents when there are problems with attendance. + Conducts home visits to provide support and/or meet the families identified needs. + Reviews and collects children's health and nutrition information screenings, immunizations, medical home, dental home, behavioral health needs, daily nutritional needs of children. + Support agency service integration in support of healthy families and empowered families as documented in the Blueprint for Brighter Futures + Participates in developing plans, providing activities, and ensuring all requirements are met.   LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: + Valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation.     Starfish Family Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer  EOE/M/F/D/V
