Job Title Early Childhood Teacher I Agency Texas A&M University - San Antonio Department Department Of Educator & Leadership Preparation Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location San Antonio, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Early Childhood Teacher I, under supervision, provides assistance in classroom activities and instruction and provides support for educational, emotional, and physical needs of children. Responsibilities: + Interacts, initiates, encourages, and supervises the children in daily activities. + Assists in orienting, supervising, and working collaboratively with classroom teacher aides. + Develops a cooperative and supportive attitude within the room. + Trains classroom assistants so that management is consistent. + Maintains a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment by changing play areas bi-monthly, cleaning toys and equipment weekly, and checking for hazards daily. + Assists in record keeping by assisting in observations regarding children’s health, behavior, and development. + Assists in planning activities for the assigned group and offers suggestions and information about the children. + Assists in addressing concerns or solving problems with children and parents. Required Education and Experience: + High school diploma. + No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Knowledge of child development phases and teaching techniques. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses: + Infant and Child CPR, First Aid Certification, or the ability to be certified within 60 days of employment.
