Position Summary: Provides education, prevention and intervention services and activities throughout the Gila River Indian Community to reduce substance abuse & suicidal behaviors by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.
Critical Tasks:
Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and substance/drug abuse and provides successful community training programs and presentations throughout the community with a significant emphasis upon youth, schools, health fairs, etc.Focuses all activities upon reducing risk factors, identifying symptoms of substance misuse/suicide, and how community members may successfully connect with appropriate services.Actively offers and conducts community outreach initiatives while distributing useful and impactful substance abuse related educational materials to adults & youth, that are then responded to successfully and healthfully by those individuals.Coordinates all activities with other Behavioral Health staff members and providers.Coordinates with RN Case Managers for distribution of medication lock boxes and other safeguarding strategies.Assists case management staff with care coordination and case management to ensure full coordination of all patient treatment activities on a successful basis.Assists with the formulation of programs and methods for treatment and rehabilitation of patients without recidivism outcomes.Maintains constructive coordination with the Public Relations Department while launching and maintaining successful media campaigns on subjects of substance abuse, suicide, and wellness.Takes all steps to remain compliant with HIPAA and all confidentiality and professional standards, without exception.Orders, monitors, and distributes educational materials throughout the community.Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions. Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a health care and/or counseling field or relevant coursework and experience in the fields of mental health and/or substance abuse treatment.Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.
