About the Role: Have a passion for technology and a nose for news? Can you skillfully edit and write compelling headlines and decks in your sleep? PCMag.com, the leading tech reviews site, is seeking a full-time Reporter to cover the day’s top trending consumer technology news. 

 

We’re looking for someone who can jump on the news and self-publish several stories before the NYC-based editorial team logs on; approximately 3-4 stories per day. Hours are roughly 4am to noon ET, so UK-based is preferred. You would find, write, add art, produce, and publish these stories yourself, so demonstrated experience writing clean and compelling tech-focused news and working in a CMS and with news discovery tools is a must. You'll also be editing, fact-checking, and publishing other reporters' stories. You'll play a key role in our 9:30AM ET daily news meeting to give a rundown of what you've reported on that morning and other stories that warrant coverage that day.

 

You must have strong news judgment, be able to identify the most important stories of the day, find interesting, audience-driving topics for slower days, and develop sources for reported longer-form features. Ideally, you already have those sources and understand the PCMag brand and what we're all about. 

Requirements: At least 2-3 years of experience writing consumer tech news for a digital publicationAbility to determine trending technology topics and use news-discovery tools for story ideationAbility to write quickly and clearly, as well as the skills to craft strong headlines and decks to draw readers inStrong developmental and line-editing skillsInterest in and understanding of SEO/engagement/audience metrics/news gathering tools like SEMRush, Tableau, Newzdash, and Google TrendsComfortable with image procurement and editing, and producing stories in a CMS
