Echo Cardiology Technologist - Trainee
Overview Trains to become an Echo Cardiology Technologist. Learns to perform basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedure to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler and 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms. Responsibilities * Learns to perform all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures. Learns to distinguish between normal and abnormal cardiac findings. * Learns to perform cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies. * Learn to perform adult echoes on-call. * Complete all course requirements and clinical rotations for the designated Adult Cardiac Ultrasound program. Maintain passing grades in all program courses including clinical competency evaluations. * Participates in exercise stress pharmacologic stress echo training, * Participates in weekly imaging conference presentation. * Learns to facilitate patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns. * Maintains a clean and safe work environment. * Learns to identify and document equipment failures. * Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * 2-year Allied Health degree or Bachelor’s degree with completion of Human Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology * One year of employment at DH-H or 6 month with supervisor approval * Prior patient facing care is preferred.
