POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARYThe Echocardiology Tech performs optimal quality echocardiographic studies on adult and pediatric patients with known or suspected cardiac anomalies. These studies include but are not limited to the following modalities: M-mode, 2-Dimensional Echocardiography, 3-Dimensional Echocardiography strain, Color Doppler, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, and Pharmacological Stress Echocardiography and Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography, stress test, holter and event recorder application if required. Limited transthoracic echo (TTE) for TAVR in Hybrid room.
Provides related clerical responsibilities necessary for physician interpretation and department record keeping. Provides competent and proficient technical skills in the performance of STAT and routine echocardiology procedures, implementing procedural standards and protocols. Provides patient care specific to procedural requirements and patient’s needs (under the supervision of the lab’s Medical Director and at the direction of the Management Team of Non-Invasive Cardiology) within established departmental protocols. Maintains an organized, safe and efficient work environment. Participates in the department QA program/accreditation process. Provides training assistance to new employees as well as participates in maintaining professional growth, self-development objectives and skill enhancement. Must be versatile in the ability to do cross-training in additional cardiology procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of Completion acquired through an accredited (US Department of Education) school for Echocardiography. Current credentials as a Certified Registered Echo tech (RCS, RDCS). If not registered successful completionof Registry exam by CCI or ARDMS must be acquired within 1-year of hire.
Minimum of 1-year experience in Echocardiography preferred. Current BLS certification. Current ACLS certification. Cardiac sonographers will be given the opportunity to participate in the department’s Echo to Vascular Cross-Training Program at the expense of the CHS (if employee agrees to the training he/she will be enrolled into the Cross-Training Program and will agree to the outlined agreement).
