The Echo Technician 2 performs testing procedures consisting of a variety ultrasounds as required by the facility under the supervision of the Physician. S/he may provide service to patients, from adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

Patient Care
* Demonstrates the ability to prioritizes orders according to medical necessity.


Operations
* Demonstrates knowledge of proper procedure in care of equipment for cardio procedures qualified to perform.

* Recognizes and reports unusual occurrences to the appropriate supervisor.

* Demonstrates ability to assist physicians and staff.

* Provides physicians with requested information.

* Provides testing procedures in a timely manner.


Data Integrity
* Identifies correct patient chart by verification of correct Cardiology number and MRN.

* Verifies correct procedure by schedule book or by contacting ordering physician.

* Completes necessary pre-test paperwork with all identification and information needed by reading physician.

* Ensures accurate technical data is aquired, recorded, and prepared for interpretation.

* Ensures proper charges are generated for completes procedures.


Education
* Demonstrates knowledge of designated testing procedures.

* Performs all calculations and measurements in preparation for interpretation of data.

* Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system.


Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required


Certification & Licensures
ARDMS or CCI- Required; or graduates of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program must obtain the ARDMS or CCI within 6 months from the date of hire and will only work as provisional staff under appropriate supervision of an NAH credentialed Lead Sonographer until credentialed.

 

BLS (American Heart Association) - Required

 

Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.


Experience
1 year experience- Preferred

 

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
