Position Summary: 

Operates ultrasound equipment and Performs a variety of technical diagnostic procedures which encompass the specialty area of Echocardiography. Must be able to perform 2D/Doppler echocardiograms, Pharmacological and TMT stress echocardiograms and assist with Transesophageal echocardiograms.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities: 

Performs ultrasound diagnostic imaging on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocolsPrepares equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioningEnsures that daily equipment and room maintenance is performed after each procedureCompletes all quality checks and Ensures that equipment logs are maintainedCompletes all clinical supply inventoryActively Participates with patient testing, performing routine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient requestsCommunicates with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areasPerforms portable examinations at the bedside to ensure patient safety as well as provide immediate diagnostic testing when neededAssists with patient scheduling when requiredEnsures that patient orientation, preparation and teaching are provided Provide specific diagnostic test information to the patientObtain patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocolComplete processing diagnostic tapes, Worksheets, and completing supporting documentation of logsNotify referring physician, cardiology fellow, Medical Director and/or pertinent Medical Staff with any diagnostic findings which warrant communicationProvide post-care and education to the patientComplete patient visit by ensuring that patient has been discharged safelyAssist with departmental quality monitoringParticipate in new equipment evaluation

May be required based on Facility assignment:

Administer contrast agents, including saline contrast

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Licensure:

Associate’s Degree OR one year certificate from a health related program in a related medical field, which include seminar course training in cardiac ultrasound preferred  Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer by American Diagnostic Registry for Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)BLS Certification
