We are seeking an editor to help lead Equity Capital Markets coverage in London. The successful candidate will be an experienced and well-organized editor who is passionate about breaking news and shaping up insightful, market-moving stories. The editor will be a strong team player who can tell stories on multiple platforms, whether it’s the Terminal, the website, Bloomberg’s magazines, TV network or the radio and podcast operation.
The ECM editor will be responsible for the logistics of the day-to-day coverage of ECM events, from dealing with sourced-based scoops on stock offerings, block trades and convertible bonds. They will also helm a daily column about ECM news and trends that sets the agenda for bankers and investors, to leading compelling stories about broad market themes. The editor will be expected to collaborate with other teams and bureaus across the Bloomberg newsroom to cover Europe's sprawling equity markets as they scramble to fend off challenges from Wall Street.
**We'll trust you to:**
+ Help reporters break news on IPOs, secondary offerings, block trades, share placements and convertible bonds
+ Track events in the ECM market, from registration to pricing, debut trading and beyond
+ Help shape up compelling stories on emerging trends and provide insightful color on deals and valuations
+ Help reporters build sources that bring fresh voices and perspective to our equities coverage
+ Collaborate with a diverse and dedicated team of reporters to help decipher stock-market activity for investors
+ Lead on longer enterprise stories examining big picture ECM issues for weekend features, Businessweek and Markets magazine pieces, Originals and other Bloomberg platforms
**You'll need to have:**
+ 5+ years of financial journalism experience
+ An extensive knowledge of equity capital market mechanics: how deals get done and who are the key players involved
+ A high sense of urgency, and the ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
+ Solid news judgement as well as strong editing skills, with a knack for explaining complex ideas in clear, engaging prose
+ A desire to keep learning and build your expertise - the limits and borders of this beat are your imagination
