The Ecological Consultant role is responsible for assessing, mitigating, and providing recommendations regarding the environmental impacts of engineering projects. The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued. **Responsibilities** + Conduct field surveys including habitat assessments, protected species surveys, and wetland delineations + Collect, analyze, and interpret ecological and environmental data + Prepare technical reports, biological assessments, and environmental permitting documents + Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., ESA, Clean Water Act, NEPA) + Coordinate with agencies such as the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Army Corps of Engineers, and state environmental departments + Support environmental impact assessments and mitigation planning + Assist in environmental permitting processes for development or infrastructure projects + Maintain accurate field notes and GIS/mapping documentation + Other duties may be assigned. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** : + Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role + Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) + Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or related field + 3+ years of relevant experience in ecological consulting or environmental fieldwork + Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations + Proficiency in wetland delineation with demonstrable experience + Proficiency in GIS, GPS mapping, and ecological data collection + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions **Preferred Qualifications** : + Master’s degree in Biology or related field + Professional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist, ISA Arborist, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, Gopher tortoise agent, etc. + Familiarity with Florida ecosystems and native species + Experience with ArcGIS or other mapping systems + Previous experience in an A/E/C firm \#LI-JM1 **Physical Demands & Work Environment** + Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to thirty-five pounds can be expected, with or without reasonable accommodation. + Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear.
