Summary Statement
The purpose of the Economic Development internship is to provide students of graduate and undergraduate programs with professional economic development experience in a public sector organization. Economic Development intern will work with the economic development team to help support outreach and engagement efforts focused on our local business community, including our small and homegrown businesses.
This position is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities:
+ Working collaboratively to help create outreach and marketing materials as part of our broader economic development branding strategy.
+ Conducting primary research, looking at how other peer cities are approaching economic development through policy, programs, and resources.
+ Supporting efforts to promote local innovation and entrepreneurship.
Requirements
Required knowledge and experience :
+ Effective verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent organizational skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office suites
Internship Requirements:
To be eligible for the City of Boise Internship Program, applicants must be:
+ Undergraduate or graduate students with a strong academic record or graduated in the last 12 months from an accredited university
+ Majoring in in Economic, Public Administration, Political Science, Management, or a related field
+ Be able to work up to 20 hours per week.
+ Be able to commit to the entire internship program.

19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
