We are looking for a Government and Economy Editor to work with our team of reporters in Brussels and across western Europe, to produce agenda-setting stories that will make readers sit up and take notice.

Based in the heart of the European Union, you’ll be helping to drive our coverage of the bloc's efforts to respond to an increasingly hostile world, handling everything from spot news, headlines and scoops to in-depth features. At the nexus of our European economy and government teams, you'll also work with our reporters from across the continent to weave together intel and explain the European story to readers around the globe.

We’ll look for you to identify key themes which resonate with Bloomberg readers and to create a framework for reporters as you organize the daily coverage.

We'll place a premium on your ability to zoom in on what matters and then connect the dots to tell our stories from a global perspective.

The relationships you'll build with colleagues across the newsroom are going to be crucial to your success. You'll get to know the reporters' different strengths and interests and you'll earn their trust by consistently helping them to make the most of their reporting. You'll also learn to harness the skills of journalists across the continent to bring your stories to life in different formats and reach the broadest possible audience.

You'll need to have:

A track record in political, economic or business journalismExperience working in a fast-paced real-time news organizationNative-level English and one or more western European languages, preferably including FrenchThe ambition and drive to be first with the news that our clients care about
