Description We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and organized Emergency Department (ED) Admitting Clerk for a healthcare facility in Long Beach. As an ER Admitting Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for patients entering the emergency room. Your primary responsibility will be to admit patients and prepare them for treatment under the supervision of the healthcare team. This is a temporary position with the potential for hire based on performance and business needs. Responsibilities: + Greet and admit patients in a courteous and professional manner. + Obtain and verify patient insurance information and necessary documents upon admission. + Enter the patient information into our hospital database. + Communicate effectively with medical staff regarding patient admissions. + Collect co-pays or arrange for payment plan if needed. + Balance and prepare daily deposits and handle cash drawer. + Maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations. + Provide excellent customer service to patients and their family members. Requirements Qualifications: + High school diploma or equivalent. + Previous experience in patient admission or related healthcare field is highly preferred. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Basic knowledge of medical terminology. + Proficiency in using MS Office programs and healthcare management software. + Ability to multitask and work under pressure. + Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
