ROLE:  Individual will coordinate daily news coverage on broadcast and digital platforms, maintain assignment desk functions, organize field assignments and plan coverage to support FOX 5/KUSI’s news brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for listening to scannersDispatches photographers, reporters and other personnel to cover storiesTracks stories from several outlets such as government agencies, wire services, social mediaAssists in development, planning and follow-up of all news storiesKeeps newsroom informed of story developments throughout dayAnswers phones and email to determine what makes a great storyCoordinates live shots and content sharing with Nexstar affiliates, FOX, and other partnersPosts stories to station website and social media sitesPerforms other duties as assignedContribute to our digital platforms by writing and or editing storiesFind and develop stories that fit each stations brand

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or communications background or previous newsroom experience preferredKnowledge of the San Diego area a plusUnderstanding of integrated communications, including role of emerging technologies “within traditional and non- traditional” channels

Compensation – Starting at $23/hr commensurate with experience and skill level.
