If you are driven to enhance the US healthcare system, MCG is eager to have you join our team. We cultivate a work environment that nurtures personal and professional growth, and this is a thrilling time to become a part of our organization. The work you do here will contribute to consistent, high-quality MCG guidelines to inform medical management policies that are a resource for effective utilization management, and act as a vehicle for effective communication about patient care.

What does a typical day look like for a Physician Editor? They conduct literature searches to identify new published medical literature for the topics in a specific guideline, review and evaluate published medical literature, and summarize new literature. Using principles of evidence-based medicine, they assess the quality and trustworthiness of the evidence and use their critical thinking to update the guideline criteria. Their goal is to enhance the delivery of optimal healthcare.

We spend most of our day in front of a computer, reading and thinking about medical evidence, the guidelines, and how we can support informed health decisions and high-quality and high-value care to patients. Physician Editors may also work on white papers, blogs, and presentations, and they participate in workgroups and projects within the team and within the larger company.

Each Physician Editor works independently but consults with others on the team to share ideas and discuss challenging questions. One Physician Editor describes the team as “a group of witty nerds.” They take the work seriously but don’t take themselves too seriously, and they utilize the group chat to provide humor, support, and connection.
