Editor, MillerKnoll Retail 

The Editor copy- and line edits collateral developed for omni-channel marketing campaigns serving the retail segments of Herman Miller, Herman Miller Gaming, and Knoll in North America (85%) and global regions (15%). They ensure that all collateral is written in each brand’s stylistic voice, is grammatically correct, and is consistent with content strategy standards established by the Editorial Director and other MillerKnoll stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have eCommerce experience in the furnishings industry. The Editor will, at times, be asked to write content on deadline.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational and editing skills with an innate sense of curiosity, problem-solving, and project management. The position requires sharp attention to detail and a steadfast dedication to customers of our MillerKnoll Retail brands.  

The Editor collaborates with Web Merchandisers, Project Managers, Designers, and brand marketing leaders. The Editor reports to the Global Editorial Director.   

  

Essential Functions:  

Copy edits the following assets for voice, style, and content. Line-edits copy for formatting consistency, grammatical accuracy, punctuation, and spelling errors. eCommerce and digital marketing campaigns Segmented email marketing collateral SEO-driven homepage, campaign page, landing page, and product page content for our eCommerce sites In-store signage Print collateral including direct-mail pieces Paid and organic social media Banner advertisements and affiliate campaigns Content marketing initiatives including blog articles Press and live event collateral Mentor Copy Lead and challenge them to develop new, more engaging ways of writing for our promotions and campaigns.  Checks copy against marketing briefs to ensure that storytelling and content are aligned with marketing’s intent.  Work collaboratively with Project Management team to ensure that copy is edited on deadline and on schedule. Write copy as needed. Help evolve and maintain MillerKnoll style guide standards for use in future Style Guides.  

Experience & Qualifications:  

Exceptional organizational skills.  Ability to successfully organize, prioritize, and self-manage copyediting under strict deadlines.  Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, advertising or marketing (or comparable work experience).  Proactive over-communicator who brings up issues as they arise, always asks questions, and sweats the details.  Passion, energy, and enthusiasm for executing editorial content.   Combined right- and left-brain thinking to develop creative solutions for how to best communicate the value, quality, and details of our best-in-class products. We want someone who is motivated to find new ways to meet our customers’ needs. 7+ year(s) of editing/proofreading experience in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.  Customer-first mindset and drive.   Retail or online experience strongly preferred.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Proficiency in Word, Excel and Office 365 with a working knowledge of the Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite.  Experience with database tools and content management systems. Airtable preferred.  Knowledge of how copy relates to design, graphics, and typography.  Comprehensive knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style is preferred, but not required.  Love and knowledge of furniture design, home design, and/or industrial design is a plus.
