The Technical Quality Editor is responsible for performing quality reviews (substantive and copy-editing reviews) for learning solutions for ABS employees and clients. Ensures that learning materials are readable, accurate, and ready for production and distribution.
What You Will Do:
Execute quality reviews for learning deliverables. Conduct substantive proofreading and copy-editing reviews on technical learning interventions and general internal communications. Verify that edits are addressed/implemented. Check facts and potential legal issues and raise queries with the assigned Designer (Instructional or Media). Ensure learning materials are well-written, clear, and logically structured. Ensure that learning content distills technical subject matter into easy-to-understand learning solutions, job aids, and communications for internal use. Create the editing style guide for the Learning Organization. Ensure learning materials align with the editing style guide. Check that graphics, captions, and media are correct. Ensure compliance with the ABS Marketing branding standards. Collaborate with the senior manager of learning development and development managers on adult learning theory and design as needed. Ensure compliance with learning best practices. Participate in project status meetings. Raise queries with Project Manager, Learning Organization as needed regarding assignments and processes.What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience as an editor or a quality assurance specialist working in learning and development. Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, or a related field Experience will be considered in lieu of educationKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exhibits excellent written English, including spelling and grammar. Demonstrates a meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail. Demonstrate the ability to problem solve and work in a team environment. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Demonstrates flexibility and critical thinking skills when managing changes in scope, implementation, timelines, and priority of a project. Effective verbal communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. Action oriented. Should be able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes. Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy. Become familiar with the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.It Would Be Nice If You Had:
Marine engineering or oil and gas background a plus.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports directly to the Reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Learning.
