**Job Description:**
This position performs non-invasive cardiac EKG diagnostic tests and edits EKG's. The incumbent also performs all duties of the “EKG Technician.”

**Posting Specifics**
+ **Shift Details:** PRN, Variable Shifts/hours, 1 shift required per week
+ **Location:** EKG inpatient and outpatient - McKay Dee Hospital
+ **Required** : **Must have passed the EKG course offered by Intermountain Health to apply**
**Job Essentials**
+ Performs exams per department protocol and demonstrates EKG competency.
+ Completes studies within accepted time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
+ Operates and exhibits a working knowledge of the equipment by demonstrating the ability to proficiently use it and select the proper settings.
+ Performs routine maintenance including cleaning of equipment including and reports any variance from normal that impacts the function of the equipment.
+ Involved in scheduling and prioritizing exams added on throughout the day.
+ Accurately completes orders and patient billing.
+ Notifies physician if critical values are identified during the test.
+ Ensures proper patient identification by reviewing the patient chart or order to verify the procedure ordered.
+ Confirms all EKGs in the MUSE system and edits list and demographic complete all EKGs as soon as they are available after patient testing is complete under the correct patient name and MMI# with proper diagnosis.
+ Pre-reads and edits all EKGs using MUSE codes before placing in the appropriate physician in-basket to be interpreted and confirmed. Assists department and interpreting physicians in achieving the 24-hour turn-around time for EKG interpretation.
+ Provides patient education as needed and assures patient comfort.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Must have and maintain current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
+ Editor pass-off skills must be completed as a pre-requisite to being promoted to the Editor position. (Preferred to complete Editor pass-off skills within three months of passing EKG exams.)
+ Successfully pass the Intermountain basic and intermediate EKG courses.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
+ Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
+ Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
+ May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
+ For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

$19.31 - $26.22
