Education, Recreation, and Welfare Manager
Overview SOSi is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Education, Recreation, and Welfare Manager to lead our emergency shelter and day center support services for unhoused families in Cambridge, MA. This multifaceted role involves overseeing educational programs, recreational activities, and welfare services to ensure the well-being and education of family guests. Essential Job Duties • Manage and assist in the delivery of synchronous and asynchronous educational programs, including provider sourcing, scheduling and quality control. • Coordinate with local school liaisons and support school-age guests’ educational goals • In partnership with other key personnel and Case Managers, investigate cases regarding children's safety, abuse, or neglect, and recommend appropriate corrective actions, including liaising with the Department of Children and Families. • Supervise staff providing care of children and coordinate with Case Managers to maintain updated guest files, evaluating action plans for effectiveness. • Identify and address problems requiring intervention, coordinating corrective measures with relevant agencies. • Collaborate with the Community Resource Manager to connect children and caretakers with necessary resources for ongoing support. • Develop and implement recreational activities that meet the needs of the shelter population, using community partnerships where possible to bolster offerings. • Measure program outcomes by tracking participation, effectiveness, and efficiency. • Maintain accurate records and comply with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations. • Ensure the proper maintenance of recreational and leisure equipment and supplies and address guest concerns. • Attend and participate in administrative meetings to contribute to program development and policy decisions. Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required, or equivalent relevant work experience. • 5 or more years of related experience, with 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience preferred. • 1-2 years of experience in developing and implementing activities for diverse and/or vulnerable populations. • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Commitment to the mission of supporting unhoused families and a desire to make a positive impact in the community. Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred. • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, or Haitian Creole and English • Experience in a similar role within a social services setting. • Familiarity with case management software and databases.
