Job Title Education Abroad Advisor II Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Undergraduate Studies Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Kingsville, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Summary The Education Abroad Advisor II, under direction, assists with providing support services to students and faculty wanting to pursue educational opportunities within and outside the US. The position assists Undergraduate Studies leadership in providing services to students and faculty in support of providing a range of national and international education opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Provides standard advising for students and faculty on various issues impacting international education opportunities, such as personal, financial aid, academic, health insurance and health care, travel, and cultural needs. + Assists in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events and in identifying funding opportunities. + Maintains program and student records, database, and other advising administrative tasks which include drafting correspondence, researching and preparing reports, creating program budgets, assisting with travel arrangements, handling various types of applications, and orienting and debriefing students and faculty for national and international educational opportunities. + Assists with the planning and implementation of student programming activities such as faculty and student pre-departure programs. Develops and updates training materials and delivers training sessions. + Coordinates program communications, marketing and social media for the Office of Global Engagement. Coordinates and responds to inquiries regarding Global Engagement programs and events. + Oversees export control compliance for Undergraduate Studies. + Supervises student workers for the Office of Global Engagement. Plans and implements program events for students such as conferences and seminars. + Oversees passport document acceptance office and required submissions. + Supports non-academic student travel with insurance guidelines, travel request and documentation oversight. + Serves as point person and repository for international Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). Minimum Requirements Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience – Two years of related experience. Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and/or contractual requirements for special groups of people. Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to effectively communicate with international people. Ability to comprehend and communicate technical information effectively and diplomatically. All positions are security-sensitive.
