This Education and Customer Service Tech position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate people who are passionate about the outdoors. This role will coordinate, plan, and deliver many of FWP’s most important education programs including hunter, bowhunter and trapper education, aquatic education, boater safety, bear awareness, a variety of other programs. This person would also assist with customers at our regional offices. FWP’s mission is to Steward the fish, wildlife, parks, and recreational resources for the public, now and into the future. In CommEd, our divisional mission is to inspire and motivate people to enjoy and protect Montana outdoor resources through timely, accurate, relevant, and engaging information and education. FWP is hiring seven Education and Customer Service Techs – one in each of FWP’s regional offices.*Applicants should rank their preferred regional office locations 1 to 7, from their top choice to their seventh in your Cover Letter.* *Job Duties:* · Coordinate with volunteer instructors throughout the region to deliver bowhunter, hunter and trapper education programs. · Visit school and community groups across the region to deliver conservation education programs. · Work with Regional CommEd Manger to develop strategies to recruit more volunteer instructors. · Deliver other FWP education programs as needed across the region. · Work with Helena and regional CommEd staff to develop strategies to expand audiences for education programs with the goal of furthering the public’s knowledge and passion for the outdoors. *_Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: _* · Must pass a fingerprint-based background check and have a valid Montana driver’s license or obtain one within 60 days of hire · Must be a graduate of the Montana Hunter and Bowhunter Education Programs or be willing to complete the programs within 60 days of hire. · Proficient with computers and basic software for word processing, spreadsheet and database management, and familiarity with using social media platforms. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills · Supportive of FWP programs and mission. · Knowledge of: o Educational methods and techniques, including group management in classrooms and in the field o Hunting/bowhunting/fishing/boating and general safety o Natural Resource Management and Conservation o Fish & wildlife identification and management o Common fish & wildlife diseases and invasive species (CWD & AIS) o Various recreational skills and safety o Montana hunting & fishing regulations and laws · Enthusiasm and genuine interest in teaching hunter/bowhunter/trapper/angler and conservation education programs and preserving and perpetuating hunting and fishing traditions for future generations · Ability to work with students and the public of all ages, backgrounds, and learning levels · Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel · Be professional and courteous even during periods of high pressure from public demands *_Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):_* The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in fields such as communication, education, wildlife, natural resource management, ecology, aquatic or wildlife biology, and one to two years of job-related experience.
