Job Summary:
The individual in this position assists teachers with curriculum planning, supervision of students, and teaching children in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment
+ Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
+ Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas
+ Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts
+ Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing
+ Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
+ Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials
+ Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials
+ Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures
+ Participate in professional growth activities
+ Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district
+ Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field
+ Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field
+ Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans
+ Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting
+ Successful experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
+ Bachelorโs degree from an accredited institution
