Lydgate Junior and Infant School is a multi-cultural school that lies at the heart of a supportive and diverse community in Soothill, Batley. 

We wish to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Y1 Education Teaching Assistant (ETA) to be a part of our committed KS1 team and support our pupils’ teaching and learning. This is a maternity cover and is a fixed term post until 4th January 2026. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working in a Y1 environment. 

We are looking for someone who:

•    Will be a dynamic and proactive ETA
•    Be knowledgeable about the KS1 national curriculum especially Y1
•    Has high expectations of achievement, progress and behaviour.
•    Can build positive relationships with children and staff.
•    Is able to work well as part of a team.

The ability to relate to children/young people from diverse backgrounds is essential for this job, as well as having good verbal and written communication skills in order to liaise with children and other staff members.
