Position Overview:
The Educational Vocational Tutor will work with hard-to-place youth and youth aging out of care, providing academic support, mentoring, and guidance to help them achieve their educational and vocational goals. This role involves fostering a positive learning environment, building rapport with youth, and tailoring instructional strategies to meet their individual needs. The Educational Vocational Tutor will collaborate with other professionals and organizations involved in the youth's rehabilitation and support, working towards their academic advancement and personal growth. Finally, the Educational Vocational Tutor will conduct career and educational assessments for each youth in order to prepare for future goals.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered).
Previous experience working with youth, preferably in an educational or mentoring capacity and or a residential setting.
Strong knowledge of academic subjects, instructional strategies, and learning assessment techniques.
Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with youth, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of diverse individuals.
Flexibility and adaptability to work within different educational settings.
Knowledge of the challenges and barriers faced by youth who have been in residential settings or criminal justice involved and a commitment to promoting their educational success and reintegration.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently.
Must be able to work some weekends and or evenings.
