Position Summary
Serves as Coding Educator of ICD 10, ICD 10 PCS, & CPT for the SRHS District. Serves a liaison between providers and coders. Provides education /in-services in training with regard to ICD 10 and CPT coding. Assists with coding/billing/charging questions and edits. Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure clear, thorough documentation that accurately reflects the patient diagnosis/es, procedures, DRG and APC assignment. Works close with Coding Manager, CDI/IP Supervisor to trend and develop appropriate educational programs. Assists with coding volumes if requested by coding Manager or Director.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Associates Degree in HIM or related fieldExperience
5 + years of experience required at Tertiary / Acute Care Teaching HospitalLicense/Registration/Certifications
CCS ( Certified Coding Specialist) or CPC , or RHIT

Core Job Responsibilities
Oversee Work of EPIC Work Queues- Outpatient Educator Answers coding questions from associates both in and outside HIM dept. Departmental education of associates both internal and external of Hospital District Go to person for district for ICD 10 , PCS Coding & DRG assignment ensuring compliance for all team activities Conducts daily audits, helps manager oversee external audits Assists writing denial appeals. Works with RAC Coordinator keeping letters current Keeps abreast of coding trends by keeping self-informed by reading and attending pertinent meetings/webexs. Other duties as assigned
