PSC sets and applies high standards for the preparation, certification, and continued licensing of Georgia public educators. The Educator Ethics Division of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission is authorized by law to investigate reports of specified criminal conduct, violations of professional or ethical codes of conduct, and violations of certain rules, regulations, and policies by school system educators. The Commission imposes disciplinary action or a denial of a certificate against an educator. In addition, the Commission is charged with adopting standards of performance and a code of ethics for educators. Under general supervision and in accordance with state and federal laws, as well as agency rules, the investigator conducts investigations regarding alleged educator misconduct and criminal history background as assigned. Based on fact documentation, testimony, and physical evidence, the investigator prepares complete investigative files and submits comprehensive investigative reports. The investigator coordinates with the Attorney General’s Office regarding cases on appeal. The investigator testifies in administrative proceedings and other proceedings as required. The job requires some in-state travel. Driving on business requires verification of a good driving record. The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check. This position is eligible for telework. Preferred Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university • Three years of full-time criminal, civil or administrative investigation casework experience in state, federal, city, or county government or closely related experience • Law enforcement investigative experience • Experience in investigations related to human resources, education, or a profession’s standards • Current or previous Georgia POSTC law enforcement certification (PBLE), comparable certification from another state, or completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator training. • Knowledge of and skill in conducting interviews and interrogations, including: demonstrating good listening skills by being attentive to verbal and non-verbal cues and responding appropriately, understanding and deriving meaning from spoken material; and effectively communicating ideas, thoughts, and facts orally considering the audience and subject matter, using correct grammar and appropriate body language. • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and apply advanced written materials for practical business purposes (e.g., complaints, laws, regulations, and policies). • Ability to plan, prioritize, and categorize tasks with respect to importance and time available; use realistic estimates when planning; and take steps to improve methods or procedures in order to increase productivity. • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing; write using correct grammar, spelling, sentence and document structure, and accepted document formatting; and produce written materials that are clear and concise. • Intermediate to advanced-level experience in use of the Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to use multiple technology applications to effectively complete assignments. • Current Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Security and Integrity training and certification as a GCIC Justice Information System network operator • Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and administrative procedures governing the conduct of professional educators • Bilingual (spoken and written) – Spanish or French preferred Please attach a cover letter and résumé.
