The Educator, Patient & Community Education reports to the Manager, Patient and Community Education. The Educator promotes patient, family, staff and community empowerment through education; provides comprehensive patient and family education for those being treated at KCC as well as to the community. The individual assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the most current and cost effective educational materials, programs, and processes for patients and families; provides educational tools and develops programs in collaboration with Cancer Center staff; trains staff and volunteers. **Responsibilities:** + Assessesthe teaching-learning needs of patients, families and staff at the CancerCenter and the community. + Ensuresthat educational materials are the most current and appropriate forindividuals of varied ages, reading levels, languages and cultures. + Withthe assistance of other KCI/KCC departments, ensures that informationabout community resources is available and current for patients, familyand staff. + Assistswith the development and/or adaptation of patient and community educationactivities, materials, programs and processes into evidence-basededucational materials, programs and processes for a variety of audiencesand settings. + Assistswith or teaches educational (patient and community) classes and offeringsincluding class instructor/volunteer training. + Bachelordegree required. + Mastersdegree in public health or current Michigan license to practice as aregistered nurse preferred. + Threeyears of relevant experience required. + Knowledgein adult learning principles preferred. + Fluencyin Microsoft Word required.
